The following incidents occurred on Wednesday, June 7th, 2017:

Motor Vehicle Crash - Personal Injury:

 

At 5:47 AM, Deputies, Brodhead Fire Department, and Orfordville EMS responded to the N4600 Block of STH 104, Town of Spring Valley, for a motorcycle crash with injuries.

 

Investigation revealed that Frank T. Cone, 52, of Brodhead, was operating a motorcycle northbound on STH 104 when a deer entered the road. Cone locked the brakes up and laid the motorcycle down, but did not strike the deer. Cone was injured in the crash and was transported by Orfordville EMS to Mercy ER in Janesville. Cone was wearing eye protection, but was not wearing a helmet. The motorcycle sustained moderate damage and was towed from the scene.

 

Motor Vehicle Crash - Personal Injury:

 

At 6:27 PM, Deputies, along with Belleville Fire and Belleville EMS, responded to a two-vehicle crash on State Hwy. 92, at Hughes Road, Town of Exeter.  Investigation revealed that a vehicle operated by Karen A. Lightly, 62, of Belleville, was eastbound on State Hwy. 92, waiting to turn northbound on Hughes Road.  A vehicle operated by Anthony J. Loyd, 35, of Davis, IL, was eastbound on State Hwy 92, approaching Hughes Road.  Loyd was distracted while pouring out a soft drink, and he attempted to avoid a rear-end collision with Lightly by passing on the left.  Loyd's vehicle collided with the driver's side of Lightly's vehicle, causing both to go into the north ditch.

 

Lightly was not injured and was wearing her seat belt. The airbags did deploy in her vehicle. Lightly's vehicle sustained severe driver's side damage and was towed from the scene.  Loyd was injured in the crash, but declined treatment on scene.  Loyd was wearing his seatbelt and the airbag did not deploy in his vehicle.  Loyd's vehicle sustained severe front-end damage and was towed from the scene.  Loyd was cited for Inattentive Driving and released pending court.

 

OWI:

 

At 11:01 PM, the Sheriff’s Office received a traffic complaint on a vehicle on STH 104. The vehicle was stopped in the N4600 block of STH 104, Town of Decatur. Investigation resulted in Kristopher W. Genskay, 38, of Brodhead, being arrested for Operating While under the Influence (alcohol) 2nd Offense. Genskay was also cited for Operating Without a Valid Driver’s License, and Operating Left of Center. Genskay was jailed, pending a responsible party. The Albany Police Department assisted with the case.
